The activity of the Italian Industry & Commerce in the UAE begins in Sharjah in 1999 as a Piedmont Region – ICE Program Agreement. This is a showroom dedicated to Piedmontese companies, called Italy in Emirates. In 2002 and 2003 the project was expanded nationally and partially funded by the CNA-MiSE Sector Agreement (Ministry of Economic Development). In 2004 the company name changed and the Italian Chamber of Commerce was established in the UAE and Confartigianato entered the Board of Directors, in addition to the CNA founder. However the local legislation does not allow the denomination of Italian Chamber of Commerce, so from that moment it will be called Italian Industry & Commerce office in the UAE.

We are Micropolis – the small business hub.

We connect customers to small companies, share inspiration, let you know about upcoming markets and workshops, and generally encourage people to become Micropolitans.

What is a Micropolitan? It’s someone who supports small businesses for the life of the city. If everyone in the UAE spent just Dhs50 per week with small, independent businesses (instead of with the big brands), it would mean an extra Dhs475,000,000 going into the local economy. This would result in more home-grown start-ups, more jobs, and more vibrant communities to live in. Sounds great, right?
